Image: CNV DRAFT CLIMATE & ENVIRONMENT STRATEGY

Opportunity Question:

How can we help the City of North Vancouver inspire, develop and support super champions with the business community whose actions lead to measurable reductions in carbon emissions locally, regionally and/or internationally?

Term: FALL 2022
Department: Business
Course: BADM 305 – Leadership
Instructor: Natasha Mrkic Subotic
Staff contact: Annie Dempster, City of North Vancouver

Project  Description:

City of North Vancouver’s (CNV) DRAFT Climate and Environment Strategy (CES), which has currently been tabled until a Council workshop is held. In the interim staff are working to strengthen the DRAFT CES and developing the implementation toolkit. An opportunity has been identified to support this work by creating targeted recognition program for CNV’s business community to recognize leadership towards meeting the City’s adopted emissions reduction targets (which are 80% Emissions Reductions below 2007 Levels by 2040 and Net Zero or 100% reduction by 2050)

The main project questions to be addressed:

  • How can the City of North Vancouver (CNV) inspire, develop and support super champions with the business community whose actions lead to measurable reductions in carbon emissions locally, regionally and/or internationally?
  • What tools can the City use to grow local champions within business organizations and to empower these champions to share their success stories to empower others to implement actions that create measurable reductions in carbon emissions locally and internationally?
  • Can the CNV foster mentorship networks for collaboration that can enhance theses opportunities?
